Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life’ Pablo Picasso… this is on the front of my sketchbook…

keep it simple - black & white

Keep… it… simple… stupid…!

Dijanne Cevaal over at  Musings of a textile itinerant has thrown out a challenge following the KISS principle…

“make a 50 cm square quilt using only two coloured fabrics ( or white for that matter) and threads ( as many colours as you would like) but using only straight stitch by hand or machine- no fancy stitches- of course straight stitching can be done in any form- and absolutely no embellishing- just fabric and stitch and your imagination!”

the idea of keeping things simple appeals strongly so I’m going to take up the challenge… & adopt the word ‘KISS’ for 2010…

as the sun sets on another year…

all the best for a happy & creative 2010…

natural dyes…

20Nov09

I love colouring my own fabric & thread… and to that end I’ve even got plants growing in our allotment for dyeing…

one of the beds at the allotment full of dye plants

Not much happening at the moment in the allotment… however it does need a good tidy… lots of dead foliage… but every things is too wet at the moment… though I do have a lot of seeds that need to be stored away for the winter… I have far too many so once I’ve sorted them out I’ll offer a few packs here…

some blogs I follow on natural dyeing…

Jenny Dean’s Wild Colour  http://www.jennydean.co.uk/wordpress/

Wild Colour by Jenny Dean is one of the best contemporary guides to the art of vegetal dyeing. The goal of the this page on face book  is to show the publisher that there is a fan base for the book that justifies a new printing.
